R&D Projects

Spike Renewables’ R&D activities are part of European programmes dedicated to energy and decarbonisation, from H2020 projects to current and future Horizon Europe initiatives. We work on advanced technologies that integrate modelling, experimentation, and prototyping, with the goal of transferring research results into concrete industrial applications. Our work combines scientific research with applied engineering, aiming to bring advanced technologies into real applications. This approach enables us to contribute effectively to European programmes supporting the energy transition and emissions reduction.
H2024 Spike Renewables S.r.l. Partner Profile

Innovative technologies for geothermal systems

Geothermal energy is one of our main research lines. We have developed solutions for reducing silica in geothermal brine, enabling heat recovery even under supersaturation conditions and overcoming fouling limitations found in traditional systems.

Hydrogen and Innovative Storage Systems

We conduct research on innovative electrolyzers and advanced hydrogen storage technologies, including solutions based on nanomaterials such as MOFs and Activated Carbons. We study the integration of these systems in industrial environments and the development of prototypes and demonstrative plants.

Waste heat recovery in the industrial sector

We develop components and solutions for heat recovery under critical conditions, with particular focus on advanced heat exchangers, phase-change systems, and the use of molten salts for thermal storage or heat transfer. These technologies are validated through pilot plants and dedicated experimental activities.

Biofuels and Thermochemical Processes

We work on the development of biofuels and thermochemical processes for the production of energy carriers and synthetic fuels, managing the design of plant sections and validation through pilot installations. Our goal is to contribute to sustainable energy supply chains aligned with European standards.
